Made by hand in Portland, Oregon

Combining old-world techniques of the traditional blacksmith with a modern aesthetic, Hand Forge creates artisan metal accessories and home accents that last.

We strive to bring people into deeper connection with the objects they handle every day, through story, education, and collaborative design. All of our pieces combine the best of form and function, made entirely by hammer and hand in Portland, Oregon.

Owner and artist Lyle Poulin grew up in the mountains of northern California, working in his family’s metal shop from a young age. He drew inspiration from the Sierra landscape around him, developing a strong affinity for natural materials and organic shapes. A welder and blacksmith since 1999, Lyle launched his first metal arts business, the Artemisia Atelier, in Portland in 2009. His unique rustic-modern jewelry and accessories quickly found an audience, establishing a following through select West Coast retail stores, craft and trade shows, and online markets. In 2011, the business expanded and Poulin marked the change with a new name and brand: Hand Forge. Lyle brings a wealth of interests and expertise to his designs, from a degree in Microbiology and experience in fine book-making, to a passion for mushroom foraging and microbrews.
